Named after the poet Blacks Tanfucio book “Black Vigils” who produced most of his work at the residence by whom this wine is produced. Vigils Blacks is a collection of short stories about figures of the Tuscan countryside. Blacks Tanfucio (alias Renato Fucini) published in the first edition in 1882 and stayed in residence at Villa Dianella who now produce this wine in his honour.
In “Le Veglie di Neri” the Sangiovese meets the richness and the flavours of Dianella’s Cabernet Sauvignon creating an elegant, smooth and very drinkable wine. It can be drunk young but also aged in bottle for some years with excellent results. It offers its best with stewed beef and roasted pork as well as with seasoned cheeses.
Grapes are selected and harvested manually. The Sangiovese comes from the Buontempi vineyard while the Cabernet-Sauvignon comes from the Bacettone vineyard, south-west exposure to ensure the optimal development of the grapes. This wine is produced in stainless steel tanks with temperature-controlled fermentation. The duration of maceration on the skins is 10 days for the Sangiovese and 12 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon. It is then aged for 8 months in concrete tanks for the Sangiovese and in barriques for the Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine is ruby red with purple highlights. strong floral bouquet notes well blended with spicy and jammy aromas. Rich, warm, very drinkable with smooth tannins and a long finish.
